It is a somber time for this country this week because, just as the leaves begin to turn gold, so too do the calendar pages turn closer toward that date when we all begin to take ownership of an injury—personal and pervasive, unique yet universal. So this week, while our President ponders Syria, and we mark the 12th anniversary of 9/11, Growing up Last has decided to discuss issues of mortality, grief, and loss. We have reached out to guest bloggers whose submissions will be featured, ditched some of our usual formatting for the week, and we hope to add thoughtful conversation to these issues.
