- My son broke his arm last Sunday night at a charity event. He broke both the ulna and the radius right above the wrist. We spent a harrowing evening in the ER, but he was very very brave and stoic.
- The orthopedist we saw Monday is hoping for no surgery and that we can cast it on Monday, depending on how it’s healing. It’s in a temporary splint thing now.
- This means I have to help him bathe and dress and such. He’s been darling sweet about it, constantly thanking me for the extra help.Â
- We are still attending football practice and games, because that’s what you do, being part of a team and all. It’s hard for my son, because he loves to play. It makes us both sad.
- I’ve had a ton of errands this week. Appointments too, getting the last few things for fall done to the house. All the outdoor lights are now working, the yard is ready to go dormant, and the donkeys had their vet check up.Â
- I had my hall bath painted. It’s an awesome mossy green shade and I love it. Now I need to hit some builder surplus places for a new vanity/cabinet that actually has storage and counter space.
- I’m getting a bid today to build a half bath in our bonus room. It’s above the apartment that’s attached by a carport to the back of our house (my oldest lives in the apartment). It’s the perfect space for guests, except the lack of toileting facilities. This is a project that will likely come later, but getting the numbers is the first step.
- I had an awesome meeting Tuesday night with all my fellow healer/energy work/intuitive friends. Very refreshing and enlightening. We will be getting together once a month to commune with each other.Â
- I’ve used up almost all the food in the fridge and for sure need to bake bread today. Also, I am overrun with eggs. The ladies are laying about 4-5 a day. That’s a lot of eggs each week!
- Despite this, I am going to a chicken owner’s even today, and will probably come home with more hens this afternoon. It’s a sickness, I tell ya.
- There’s been a lot of healing and loveliness on my moms’ side of the family. I am more grateful than ever for the people who have my back.
- I spent 3 hours and $40 in materials to make SB a new cuddle minky blanket. His first words when I presented it to him were, “I like my old blanket.” His old one was given to him by my mom right before he was sent to live with his aunt, which we thought was going to be permanent (she changed her mind 24 hours into the visit about taking placement of him), and so it is a very special blanket indeed. Oh well, I got some practice working with minky! It wasn’t anywhere as awful as I thought it would be, even attaching the binding was pretty easy.
- Dozer has 26 days left in braces
- Dozer is 14, which means she stays in a state of irritation and defensiveness most days. I hope the teen years don’t remove the part of her that was sweet and giving. She was seriously the most thoughtful child I’ve ever come across, always doing for others. That still exists in her, so I have confidence that part of her will come through once the hormonal tornado has passed over our heads. As much as I get frustrated, I love having teenage daughters and watching them grow ad become their own people. It’s pretty spectacular.Â
- I want to throw a dinner party, but life keeps getting in the way. I already know what I want to serve. Maybe next week when my mommy and dad and sister come we can have a dinner under the lights in our yard. We still haven’t test driven our new picnic table with the built in ice chest, and that’s a travesty.Â
