Not at all! What we are doing now, is calling him by both the old and the new names, and we are dropping the use of his old name more and more as the adoption date draws closer. In the beginning, we were required to call him by the name his birth mom chose for him, although it was a name that we certainly wouldn’t choose for our own child, EVER! Now that he is legally free for adoption, it is my understanding that we can use his new name full time. We will probably use his old name as a nickname, and we ae using the initial in his legal name.
Hello! You’ve mentioned that SB’s name is very different and that you’ve considered changing it. Now that his adoption is coming closer, do you call him by the name you’ve chosen for him, or have you always? Hope I’m not intruding too much.
