Two Years Ago today

I was one day into a six day long trial that would determine where my Sugar Biscuit would live. And not a day goes by that I’m not grateful that I never have to go through that again, and am not saddened at it’s necessity.

My mother and I would have to use Cottonelle wipes on  bathroom breaks to rid our bodies of the sour smell of nervous sweat that ran down our backs as we literally quivered with emotion.

Outside of the fracture of my family when my oldest daughter left, the trial that terminated SB’s mother’s rights was the most painful experience of my life, and I’m sure she will never fully recover from it, either.

No matter the trauma, I would do it again. I love this baby with a burning intensity and it was worth it all to hopefully set the world underneath his feet to rights.
